1:1 Services - What to Expect

You are the expert on your baby. As a speech pathologist, lactation counselor, and infant family specialist, my expertise is in infant feeding and overall development. This includes the importance of the parent-child relationship and how this shows up in feeding. You’re an important piece of the puzzle too.

Together in our sessions, we’ll figure out WHY feeding is difficult, explore how complex feeding is, and decide where your family can focus energy to meet your feeding goals. That may look like tweaking the feeding routines, using strategies to help your baby become more regulated for feeding, trying a different bottle nipple shape or flow, modifying how solids are offered, and/or talking through challenges you are facing as new parents.

This type of support is not long-term; the majority of families I support only need to come in for 2-3 sessions total. You have direct access to me for follow up questions as needed between our sessions, and when you’re able to problem-solve the feeding difficulties on your own, I know my job is done!

The cost of an initial session is $110 and typically lasts around 60 minutes. Follow ups are scheduled for 45 minutes ($95), however cost is adjusted if only 30 minutes is required. Virtual support for follow ups is always an option and can sometimes be better, such as in the case of older infants with transition to solids support.

There are many different types of feeding support available. What I offer are strategies that you can easily implement into feedings or your daily routines to help improve the quality or efficiency of feedings, improve your baby’s intake, and support the development of feeding and oral motor/sensory skills. I will support you in understanding your baby’s cues and communication along the way.

My goal is empower YOU to make changes that will decrease anxiety around feedings and make the whole experience more enjoyable for all involved. I act as a coach, and you are the captain(s) of the team. Your baby is also a very important player who calls most, if not all, of the shots and together, we’ll figure out what (s)he is telling us and create a plan to respect his/her needs along with your values and priorities as a family.
